Another use of knowing the way units pop out of a building is when attacking Barracks, Mage Towers, or even Town Halls. Place attacking Ogres like this and hit S or T to Stop or Stand Ground:

(Place your Ogres or Grunts in the red areas - the enemy will pop out in the green filled area)

If attacking with more than 3, make sure E remains empty. This way, the instant anybody pops out of the building, 3 ogres at once will attack him. By the time your opponent gets around to moving him, he might be dead - completely automatically!

Place Grunts as shown in this picture, so the enemy will pop out in the middle of the Grunts.

You can attack a Barracks with two level 1 Grunts and almost kill it with enemy Footmen also level 1 popping out the entire time.

You can kill the Barracks easily using three level 1 Grunts on it at the same time while being attacked by one level 1 Footman that would pop out constantly.

The implications of using this can be extraordinary. How hard is it to attack someone with three or more Barracks constantly pumping out troops? However, using the 3on1 on each barracks, it is possible to take them all out easily. This is assuming that:

Your units are at the same level or above the enemy

The enemy doesn't outclass you by pumping out Ogres while you are attacking their barracks with Grunts.

A teammate doesn't save them.

They don't have Barracks elsewhere sending reinforcements.

It is plausible to take out 3 Barracks constantly training units with only 9 units of your own.

Be Sure To...

Make sure the enemy will pop out in the middle of your troops. You know where they will pop out from this strategy guide. If not, go find where I talked about it.

Make sure your units are on stand ground. You don't want them chasing after someone messing up your formation.

Upgrade your Grunts or Ogres to the same level or above the enemy.

If the enemy starts making Ogres when you're using Grunts to attack, try to replace your Grunts with Ogres, or send more Grunts.

Watch and prevent the enemy from building more Barracks.

Don't let the enemy build a Tower by their Barracks

Try to make the odds even better by using a 4on1, 5on1 or even a 6on1

if you want the Barracks killed sooner, which is often important, set up the 3on1 on the left of the barracks and put all remaining troops around the Barracks attacking it.

If time doesn't matter, setup the 5on1. This trick doesn't just apply to Barracks, you can also use this on Town Halls, Mage Towers, and Gnomish Inventors.

If people have this set up on YOUR barracks, DON'T keep making Footman and Knights.

Are there other things to do besides leveling?
There is a huge variety of things to do to keep players from feeling like they just have to grind through one creature battle after another. Characters can craft items, fight in vast battles against other players, and explore distant lands. Even when players do fight monsters, it will often be as part of a quest, or in search of special ingredients for their crafts.

Is there a way to finish World of Warcraft? How long can I play?
There are thousands of hours of game play in the shipping game, and nearly infinite goals for players. Because we'll have a live team regularly adding new quests, creatures, and items, the game will never truly end.

Is there a party system for group adventuring?
Yes.

How large is the party size for players?
The maximum number for a party is five players, and the game is generally balanced for groups of five. Smaller groups can still be quite successful, and regardless of the group's size, everyone in the group will be able to make important contributions. You can also link groups together in order to form larger parties for raids or guild activities.

Are there ways to gain experience in the game besides fighting?
Yes, there are ways to gain experience other than by fighting. Exploring is just one example of how you can gain experience; a character can receive experience by simply finding a new area (for your character) within the game. You also gain experience by turning in quests.

How does group experience work?
All players in a group share experience for a kill. However, to offset the lesser experience that comes from grouping, all players in the group also get a group xp bonus depending on the number of players in the group. You gain more experience for kills if you group with players closer to your level, while you gain less if you group with players vastly higher than you in level.

How can you hook up with your friends of different races early in the game?
For some races it's easier than others. For example, the humans and dwarves will have an easy transit between their two cities, while the night elves will find it harder to meet with their Alliance brethren early in the game as they are off in a distant land.

How many characters are allowed per realm?
The limit is ten characters on each realm. You are limited to a maximum of 50 characters across all realms.

Can you tell us more about what options are customizable on your character when you create it?
We don't want to overwhelm players with too many choices when they start off. That's why we are concentrating on features that players will notice right away. This includes things like hair style, hair color, skin color, and facial features. Players can of course also get to select their race, gender, and class. The remaining elements of character customization will be done in-game, through the choices they make in the gear they wear and the many talents they can learn.

Can players customize the height & weight of their characters?
Height and weight is not changeable due to how it affects character animations and items on the character. We wanted to concentrate on making each race's animations distinct and special, which meant working on unique models and not allowing changing of height and weight. If we allowed that, then the result would be wonky-looking or distorted movement when the animations were applied to an inappropriately sized model.

How long can your name be and will last names be available?
All names are restricted to 12 characters. Last names are something we would like to implement in the future for our players, but at this time we do not know if, or when, that might occur and what the criteria would be for acquiring one.

Do characters require food and water to survive?
A character is never required to eat or drink. Nor are there negative consequences for not consuming food and water. However, eating will restore your character's health much faster and give you a small buff to select attributes. Drinking will restore your mana much more quickly as well.

Can characters swim?
Characters can swim, and World of Warcraft has underwater environments to explore.

Is there a limit on how much money a character can carry?
No.
